Christian and Muslim have lived together for hundreds of years in peace but in the late 1000s ,a group of Turkish Muslim try to captured the city of Jerusalem.The army of Jerusalem wasn't prepare for the attack, the Holy Land were taken.The Byzantine emperor, fearing an attack on Constantinople, asked Pope Urban II of the Roman Catholic Church for help. Although the Byzantines were Orthodox Christians and not Catholic, the pope agreed to the request. He began build an army to take the Holy Land back. Thousand of man join from peasant to noble and form and army. They call themselves Crusade.The crusade come from a Latin word mean " Marked with the cross". About 5,000 Crusaders left Europe for the Holy Land in 1096. Some of the first ones to set out were peasants, not soldiers. The first time the crusade try to capture the Holy land was a success. About fifty year later the Muslim conquer it back. The crusade was form again but they try three time of capturing the Holy Land but it all failed.

Idea

Trade between Europe and Asia grew. Europeans who went to the Holy Land learned about products such as apricots, rice, and cotton cloth. Crusaders also brought ideas of Muslim thinkers to Europe.  Some of the king in Europe increased their power because so many noble and knight died in the Holy war. These king seized land that were left without clear owners. king also gain influence at the pope's expense. Because some crusader had attack Jews many Jew distrusted Christian.
